Embedding Numeracy Across the Whole Curriculum
A long term research program funded by ARC, government and industry sources has developed a model for embedding numeracy across the whole school curriculum and a professional development approach that is demonstrably successful in improving teachers’ capacity to recognise numeracy opportunities in the subjects they teach – this is a requirement of the Australian curriculum. Resources developed from this research program have been incorporated into teacher support materials by education systems and teacher registration authorities such as Brisbane Catholic Education, the NSW and Queensland Departments of Education, and the Queensland College of Teachers, thus enhancing teachers’ capacity for innovative practice that improves student learning.
