Dr Sue Creagh recently attended the 15th Annual CamTESOL Conference on English Language Teaching, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
The theme of the conference was Teachers as Learners. Dr Creagh and Deputy Principal of Milpera State High School, Julie Peel, jointly presented on a collaborative body of work focused on mapping quantitatively and qualitatively the educational experiences and English language development of newly arrived migrant and refugee-background adolescents.
This project was funded by a HASS Enabler grant in 2018. A particular highlight of the trip was a pre-conference visit organized by the conference committee to a teachers’ college and a secondary school.
The conference is primarily attended by teachers and teacher educators from South-east Asia with an interest in teaching English.
