We've all seen the headlines about how boys and men are struggling to navigate the online world – from social media to gaming, and everything in between. We want to hear from you about how you deal with all this digital stuff. How do you consume social media? What do you get out of gaming? Associate Professor Garth Stahl
Garth is our go-to guy for all things education and social equity at The University of Queensland. With a background in gender theory, he dives deep into how identity and social issues play out in schools. He's written many books and a ton of articles about how educational inequalities and ideas about masculinity influence young men.
Mair is an expert on how young men see themselves in the digital world. She studies everything from tattoos and bodybuilding to performance-enhancing drugs. Mair spends a lot of time looking at online bodybuilding communities and how guys talk about masculinity. You might even catch her on YouTube or podcasts sharing her insights.
Yang is all about understanding how people interact online, especially on platforms like TikTok. His research blends sociology, anthropology, and digital media to look at how young people form their identities and well-being online. His work has got international buzz, making him a perfect fit for studying how boys and young men live their digital lives.
Associate Professor Laura Scholes
Laura is based at the Australian Catholic University. In her research, she digs into how gender stereotypes mess with boys' reading and literacy skills. Laura has published over 80 scholarly works and her book, Boys, Masculinities and Reading, is a must-read for anyone interested in how gender and literacy interact.
Lisa is a Lecturer and Research Assistant at The University of Queensland, working on her PhD. With almost thirty years of teaching boys under her belt, she's focused on promoting gender equity in boys' schools. Lisa partners with schools to bring research-based practices into classrooms, using her extensive experience and ongoing doctoral research to make a real impact.
