Emeritus Professor Dick Baldauf was to be co-chair of the international applied linguistics conference that was held in Brisbane in August 2014.  The theme of the conference encapsulated the core of Professor Baldauf’s scholarship, "Our theme, One World, Many Languages highlights the importance of the richness of linguistic diversity and recognises the role that applied linguists have in shaping the ways in which the world responds to this richness."

Emeritus Professor Dick Baldauf was appointed at The University of Queensland in July 2003 as an Associate Professor with special responsibility for TESOL and language education.  He was promoted to Professor in January 2008 and maintained a very high profile as researcher, scholar and teacher, with outstanding contributions to postgraduate student supervision and especially the supervision and mentoring of international students. His contributions were recognised in 2007 with a UQ teaching excellence award in postgraduate supervision.

The Prize was awarded for the first time in 2015. We are pleased to be able to remember our friend, colleague and mentor in this special way.
