Researcher biography

Dr Tristan Dunning is an adjunct research fellow and teaching staff at the University of Queensland in Australia. He possesses a PhD in Political Science awarded by the University of Queensland. Tristan is the author of "Hamas, Jihad and Popular Legitimacy: Reinterpreting Resistance in Palestine" published in Routledge's Critical Terrorism Studies Series in February 2016. This was based on extensive fieldwork throughout Palestine and the wider Levant. Tristan also worked as a visiting lecturer at the University of Duhok in the semi-autonomous Kurdish Region of Iraq in 2013-14. In addition, he has lived, worked and traveled extensively throughout the Middle East including Palestine, the Kurdish Region of Iraq, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Iran, Israel and the UAE.
