New & Returning Teacher Preparation Students

All students enrolled in an initial teacher education course (either undergraduate or postgraduate) will be expected to sit and pass the LANTITE test prior to graduation.

Please go to the LANTITE website to Register, Prepare, and Sit the test.

Registrations for the second test window in May/June 2017 will open on Tuesday 18 April 2017 and close at 5pm AEST on Tuesday 2 May 2017.

The second test window of 2017 will be held from Wednesday 24 May to Tuesday 6 June 2017.

Getting Started - some imperatives

A mis-step in how you manage your study can result in serious ramifications down the track including a lengthy delay in your graduation.

You will need your UQ Username and Password.

If you have accepted a full offer you should recieve these in an email from Information Technology Services

Read the mySI-net Enrolment Guide in the Important information section at the welcome page. 

Complete all the requirements and then add your courses.

Teacher Preparation Programs

Follow the program links below to find the rules that govern your program.

Bachelor of Education (Primary) 

Dual Degrees
  • If you are enrolled in a dual degree download and fill out your Dual Degree Planner. Take it to your orientation event.
  • Full-time load for the dual degree PROFESSIONAL YEAR is 7 courses per semester (five are year-long).
  • The available Teaching Areas are listed on the last page of your dual planner - choose two areas. These will be the areas you teach into after graduation.
  • You will be required to undertake and pass majors or plans in these teaching areas to be eligible for entry into the Professional Year (the last year of the dual program).  

Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education (Middle Years of Schooling) 

Bachelor of Arts/Education (Secondary) 

Bachelor of Business Management/Education (Secondary)  

  • Your teaching areas will be Economics and Business Organisation Management/Business Communication Technologies. 

Bachelor of Music/Education (Secondary)  (no longer open for commencement)

Bachelors of Music (Honours)/Education (Secondary)

Bachelor of Science/Education (Secondary) 

Master of Teaching (Primary) Full-time course load is 

  • 5 courses in semesters 1 and 2;
  • 3 courses in semester 3; 
  • 4 courses in semester 4.

Graduate Diploma in Education (Secondary) 

  • Note that your full-time course load is 6  courses per semester.
  • Four of these courses are year-long and have the same course code for each semester.


High-performing students will be invited to self-nominate and apply for Honours at the end of second semester in the third year of the program.

To enrol in the Honours program, a student must complete #48 in Year 1 to Year 3 and at a GPA of 5.8 or higher as per program rules.
