Please join us for our first 'on gender' seminar for 2020 on Friday 6 March at 4pm. The seminar will be presented by Dr Margaret Henderson (School of Communication and Arts, UQ) and Associate Professor Liz Mackinlay (School of Education, UQ).

This seminar is a celebration of Marg's recent publication co-authored with Anthea Taylor "Postfeminism in context: Women, Australian popular culture, and the usettling of postfeminism" and Liz's work, "Critical writing for embodied approaches: Autoethnography, femihnism and decoloniality".

Marg and Liz will be joined by Dr Melissa Harper and Karen Madden who will read their favourite passages, share their responses to the works, and engage the authors in conversation about writing feminism through and beyond the 'posts'.

We look forward to seeing you there.

About 'On Gender' Seminar Series

'On Gender' is a work in progress seminar held every fortnight for postgraduates and early career researchers to share current reading, writing and research linked to Gender Studies theory, research and practice. Participants also include Gender Studies academics from across the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Faculty as well other Schools and Faculties at UQ, and visiting national and international scholars.

The seminar series is hosted by Gender Studies at The University of Queensland. Gender Studies at UQ is a lively space that promotes scholarly, collegial and community-connected explorations of questions linked to the significance of sex, gender and sexuality in contemporary and historical cultures.

Presentations are 30 minutes long and we aim to provide time and space after for conversation to encourage, support, and nurture the Gender Studies work we are doing.

'On Gender' takes place every fortnight on Friday afternoon at the St Lucia campus from 4pm with drinks after at St Lucy’s cafe.
