Alternative Funding Sources for Education Research

Presented by:
Sarina Hobbin

Research Partnerships Manager
Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences

The School of Education Research & RHD Committee is proud to launch a new series of seminars aimed at fostering research capacity within the school. The first of these seminars is entitled ‘Alternative Funding Sources for Research’, and will be run by Sarina Hobbin who is the Research Partnerships Manager for the HaSS faculty.
This seminar is for all researchers (both early career and more established) interested in learning about the variety of funding sources (becoming) available to us. We talk a lot about ARC funding, but there is a growing field of alternative funding sources, and this seminar is aimed at making us become more aware of what is ‘out there’

In this seminar, Sarina will:
• Discuss the different categories of research income used at UQ
• Provide an overview of UQ’s School of Education research trends in the last 10 years (who have we been working with, and what research income, by category, have we been receiving)
• Talk about possible future funding sources (HaSS FRO research funding database)
• Provide tips for identifying future funding opportunities (eg. SPIN, Research Professional and GrantSearch databases)
• Provide some tips for proposal writing
When: 12-2pm
Friday 15th April, 2016
Where: Room s402, Social Sciences Building (24)
